It was this incident with Lupa that made me totally disregard the Bronies as socially retarded trolls. I was iffy before this, and even considering getting into the show, but their behavior was … in a word … completely inexcusable. It showed me the kind of people who had the loudest voice in the community … and it’s the kind of people who enjoy telling others what to do. And not just telling them, YELLING AT THEM UNTIL THEY COMPLY.
That is not friendship! That is not tolerance! That isn’t not respect for the views of others! That’s bullying, the complete antithesis to the whole point of FiM.
On Twitter I remember Lupa saying that she had considered giving the show a chance, but was completely turned off by the hate-spamming and causing a shit-storm for simply choosing not to have an opinion.
Honestly, can you blame 90% of TGWTG for having a negative reaction when asked about FiM? Even if they had considered the show, the fandom had already proved to them how entitled, petty and thankless they all were. Want to feel disaffected and shunned, Bronies? Well, thanks to your own actions, you now have a legitimate reason to feel that way.
Which is a shame. Because there are sane people who like FiM out there. I understand that policing a fandom as large as the Bronies are is a difficult task, but there has to be a way for the voices of reason to eclipse the obnoxious wank that has colored the fandom so negatively.
“I was genuinely enraged with the Brony community when I found out some Bronies bashed Lupa for not liking MLP:FiM. It’s this kind of thing that makes the rest of the Brony community look bad.”
(Did she ever actually say that she didn’t like it? I thought she just said she never saw it. -Meerkat)
(That’s the most egregious thing. She didn’t mention MLP:FiM in her review of the old My Little Pony film, so people assumed she hated and flipped their shit. Bronies, you’re making us look bad! We have enough of a reputation as it is! -Rants)
Subspecies Review Marathon? You Had me At “Hey Michelle!”
Hey, guys! If you have a free moment tonight, hop on over to Lupa’s Blip.tv Page and watch one or two of her episodes. Apparently, the whole Zen Films Fiasco has resulted in the related videos being taken off of Blip.
Scott Shaw is nothing more than a megalomaniac and bully, and it’d be really cool if we could all show our support for Lupa by giving her revenue a bit of a boost by making her view count climb. This’d be a productive way to show we’re in Lupa’s corner instead of wasting our time and effort on lambasting Shaw for being a giant prickhole.
While it’s tempting to write that misogynistic cumguzzler a barb-filled message about how he and his floppy nutsack can die in a fire…. that will only serve to make things worse.
In the meantime, let’s show Lupa how awesome we think she is.
PS: I propose that we redub “Zen Films” as “Zen Flims” … yes F-L-I-M-S. It’s more fitting.
